The Italian presidency of the G20 will meet in Venice from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 July, the summit of the ministers of the economy and finance of the most industrialized countries in the world.
This is a meeting that will aim to deepen some issues of international importance, building consensus around the shared conclusions on the issues of economy and global recovery.
The peculiarity is that the work of the G20 will take place in the spaces of the Municipality and the Navy inside the Arsenale of Venice, the ancient ship factory of the Serenissima, a unique place rich in history. It is a unique event and for this reason the tension is not low.
Thousands of agents will patrol streets and fields to ensure safety and prevent possible clashes with No Global demonstrations. In addition to these precautions, the city of Venice will be limited in some areas near the arsenal, where it can only be accessed with the possession of the pass, we do not exclude the navigable sections that will be subject to modifications and restrictions (navigation in certain canals is prohibited) : the suspension of the Arsenale, Bacini and Celestia piers is foreseen.
The city of Venice will have the great opportunity to make Mose’s work known to everyone and to demonstrate its strategic role in the international context.
