Also this year, as usual, the city of Venice is preparing for the big event: the 80th edition of the Venice International Film Festival to be held from 30 August to 9 September 2023. We are talking about the oldest film festival in the world, which is part of the broader activity of the Venice Biennale.
The Venice Film Festival, directed by Alberto Barbera, will see the return of Sofia Coppola and Woody Allen. As every year, the presence of Italian cinema in Competition with the Golden Lion award will be substantial. The Competition will allow us to see numerous directors and screenwriters compete, including Stefano Sollima, Edoardo De Angelis and Saverio Costanzo.
The Festival, as it does every year, is committed to fostering the diffusion of international cinema in all its forms of art, entertainment and industry in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. For this reason too, for the sixth consecutive year, artist Lorenzo Mattotti has designed the official image of the Venice Film Festival poster inspired by the tradition of cinema on the road, with the aim of conveying feelings of freedom, adventure and discovery.
