One of the best known and most appreciated Venetian icons, Caffè Florian, is now 300 years old. The most glamorous and ancient café in the world was founded on December 29, 1720 by Floriano Francesconi, initially called “Alla Venezia Trionfante”, later renamed by the patrons simply “Florian” from the name of its owner.
The Café was the center of Venetian society from the fall of the Serenissima to the revolutionary uprisings of 1848. It remains tied to tradition but also intensely lives up to the present thanks to the organization of high-level cultural events.
